Pierre Paulus du Châtelet Park

Nestled at the bottom of a valley in the heart of Saint-Gilles, the park dedicated to expressionist painter Pierre Paulus du Châtelet is one of those timeless places in Brussels that is almost hidden from view.

Born out of the merger of former residential gardens, the park has been listed since 1997. After a renovation process, it reopened to the public last spring. As soon as you enter, you descend a steep path. Carefully arranged rock gardens support the mound.

A path leads around the pond. Visitors cross a romantic little bridge under which a stream cascades while tall trees remind us of the site’s former vocation as a private garden. With its boules pitch, new playground, landscaped walks and restored rockeries, the Pierre Paulus Park is a treasure trove of nature.

The park was renovated by LPP Architectes and Pigeon Ochej paysage.
