Thinking, classifying, finding?

When Charles Jencks created his chronograms, he was sensitive to the fact that the interpretation of information was determined by the way it is presented. In other words, the visualization of knowledge influences how we understand, connect, create meanings around it.

This question could apply to books in a library: the way they are sequenced in shelves creates a web of meanings on its own. Enjoying the library and its resources might be a completely different experience depending on its physical organization. And the core element of this organization is the classification.

Through a speculative workshop with various participants, CIVA wishes to rethink the spatial organization of its collections in its future library at KANAL. How do we connect the various topics to create meaningful relations to neighboring topics? How do we name them? How do recent transdisciplinary approaches of knowledge find their place? How can we, through visual tools, help the public to enter into this new library-world with confidence and curiosity?
